Sound like something you'd be interested in? If CurlKit looks like a great deal, try it for yourself.
Whether it saves you a couple trips to the store or helps you discover new products that you normally wouldn't try, a beauty subscription box has the power to help your daily beauty routine in many ways.
With so many to choose from, it can be hard to choose just one. In this review, I will be giving you a comprehensive look at CurlKit and their services.
Started up in the February of 2012, CurlKit is a beauty subscription box that focuses primarily on haircare. At CurlKit they recognize that curls can be hard to maintain, therefore their aim is to equip curly-haired women with products that'll have them feeling their best.
How Does It Work?
Like most subscription boxes, you can receive a supply of products on a monthly basis as soon as you subscribe to their services. It's as simple as that.
While the focus does lean more towards haircare, each shipment always contain samples from a mix of different categories (like haircare, body care, lifestyle, etc.). Unfortunately for those you only want products to fill a specific need, there is no option to opt out of a given category. CurlKit is a full discovery service and experimentation is part of the fun!
Prior to receiving your kit, you will have no idea what products you will receive. The surprise is part of the curl experience! That's why they like to keep the products secret until you receive them. If you're still curious, you check out the list of brand partners and products on their website.
Plans & Pricing
The current rate for a subscription with CurlKit is $20 per month, and you will be billed on the 15th of each following month.
A recurring monthly subscription includes shipping for all Continental US states; this excludes all non-contiguous US territories, military APO and FPO where shipping fees will apply. All orders within the United States will ship through USPS. CurlKit ships internationally as well, although there will be an additional cost for shipment.
With every kit and full-size order they ship to you, you will receive tracking information via email upon shipment. You can locate your CurlKit tracking information in your Account Settings by logging into your account.
If you know someone who you think could benefit from a box like this, CurlKit allows you to send kits to friends or family as a gift. To purchase a gift certificate for someone, you can click here to learn more.
Public perception is an important factor to consider when evaluating any product or service. If reviews sway a certain way, then you can expect to have a similar experience as well.
Most CurlKit reviews swayed towards the positive, they even secured an A rating by the BBB (Better Business Bureau). Customers loved the vision of the company and swore that their products really worked.
There truly were little to no complaints about the company's services, although it is necessary to include them in order to provide you will a non-biased, comprehensive look at CurlKit as a whole.
Complaints were mainly about the cancelation process. They claim that you are free to cancel your subscription at any time, but some customers had found this statement to be only half true. They were able to contact customer support about their cancellation request, but getting back was another story. On some accounts customer service never cancelled their account, therefore they continued to be charged for payments they did not want to make.
Even though this has happened to only a few people, it is still important to consider. Just make that sure CurlKit is something you really want to try before subscribing.

CurlKit vs The Competition
With so many varieties of boxes to choose from, how does a subscription with CurlKit compare to the rest? One of CurlKit's biggest competitors is Cocotique, another subscription box that offers quality products for curly hair.
Both boxes are similar in that they focus on women of color, yet while CurlKit focuses primarily on hair maintenance, Cocotique focuses on overall wellness. CurlKit is significantly less expensive, but Cocotique offers a bigger array of products to try.
Each box is excellent in their own terms, therefore it all depends on which is most important to you as a customer - price or variety.
Are CurlKit Products Safe?
All products offered through CurlKit are 100% safe for topical use. In fact, it's encouraged you use them because they have been proven to enhance your day-to-day beauty routine.
Each kit is comprised of 5-7 samples. Samples are generously sized, with enough product inside to help you decide if it works well for you or not.
CurlKit offers products from brands like Alikay Naturals, Amazing Botanicals, Dove, Miss Jessie's and many more. The things that all of their partners ave in common is that their products are natural. With natural products comes great quality.
When it comes to specific products within these categories, they do their best to match up to your individual needs by posting weekly surveys to give subscribers a chance to speak about what they are looking for in their beauty regimen.
The CurlKit boutique is now open and offering most of the products that they offer in their subscription boxes. To find the product you're looking for, use the navigation menus on the top, left & bottom of our website, or type a keyword into the search box. If you don't see the product you at looking for, feel free to contact customer service for assistance.
Is It Right For Me?
If you have curly hair and are looking for new products to try, then CurlKit may be a great option for you. For a reasonable price, you can get a kit full of samples from high quality products, which makes it perfect for those trying to stick to a budget as well.
Since CurlKit is aimed towards a more specific audience, if you do not have curly hair, you may not benefit from this subscription box. You'll have better luck with a box like Ipsy.
