Strattera is a medication that is designed to restore the balance of neurotransmitters in the brain. When a balance is restored, attention and focus improve in children and adults with ADHD. Strattera may also reduce other symptoms that are related to ADHD such as restlessness and distraction.

Dosage and Strength Options
Strattera is available in capsule form, and each capsule contains 10, 18, 25, 40, 60, 80, or 100 mg of atomoxetine.
The recommended dose for children six years of age and older or teens that weight less than 154 pounds (70 kg), the initial dose is 0.5 mg per kg of body weight once a day. After a minimum of three days, the dose is increased to a total dose of 1.2 mg per kg of body weight.
The dose may be a single dose or split into two doses (such as morning or evening). Typically, the dose for a child or teen does not exceed 1.4 mg per kg of body weight per day.
For children over the age of six, teens, and adults who weight over 70 kg, the initial dose is 40 mg once a day. After a minimum of three days, the dose is increased to 80 mg (as either a single or divided dose). Typically, the daily dose for these individuals does not exceed more than 100 mg per day.

Your doctor should talk about the possibility of suicidal behavior, severe liver injury, and cardiovascular events. Discuss your health history, particularly if you have a history of heart issues, mood disorders, stroke, bladder or prostate issues, and glaucoma.
Keep Strattera out of reach of children and store between the temperatures of 59 and 86°F (15 to 30°C). Avoid excessive heat and moisture. Follow the packaging for details on the expiration date and talk to your pharmacist about any questions or concerns about the effectiveness past the date.
